ABOUT
Hello! My name is Dee Sapalo.
In 2013, I joined the local kink community where I observed that most of the issues plaguing the adults in my community stem from our complicated relationships with desire: discovering them, pursuing them, and growing with them in a way that's considerate of ourselves, our partners, and the spaces we move in. BDSM responds by providing a structured, ethical, and cautious way of fulfilling said desires: through compassionate consent and communication, proactively mitigated risk, and holistic design for sustainability—which, entertainingly enough, are learned through enjoyable, albeit risky, adult play.
In 2016, I started Shibari.PH, which has since grown into the largest active rope bondage community and educational resource in the Philippines. I run this vehicle with a small team of volunteers as we push for body-, sex-, and kink-positivity by: teaching online seminars, F2F workshops, and masterclasses on practicing my style of shibari; delivering private demonstrations, public performances, and even TEDx presentations that dispel myths about what we do; designing compliant content despite shadowbans, censorship, and misrepresentation, and; collaborating with both local and international partners to share their art and inspire our local community.
